While doing research for a future review of On Beyond Zebra, I made this delightful discovery: Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known as “Dr. Seuss”) wrote and Bennett Cerf of Random House published The Seven Lady Godivas: The True Facts Concerning History’s Barest Family — a nudie novelty book aimed at adults.
Jack St. Rebor at Seussblog has done a good job describing the book, so I recommend you click the link and read the post.
Maria Popova of The Atlantic posted a nice collection of illustrations. My favorite Lady Godiva is “Dorcas”. You may not want to know that.
The Dr Seuss books were instrumental in helping my son enjoy reading – although I have to admit I was never oversold on them. But this is delightful, and the cover picture sums it all up! Thanks Peter
You’re welcome. I like the Seuss of imagination better than Seuss of the moral lesson. I’ll see if I can make it clear what I mean when I get to On Beyond Zebra.
I am currently reading ‘Kavalier & Clay’ by Michael Chabon – the only one they had in our library. Really enjoying it. Thanks for the heads-up 🙂
