The image works with the words
i especially like this one- perfect in many ways and as it continues to haunt the reader. i appreciate how you can help me become more aware. As I ponder photographs my mother has on her wall above me I recognize all the more the moment in time that is ‘still’ and yet memory still moves.
The actual original inspiration for this was last fall, when I returned to my college to serve on an alumni committee. I was walking around by myself the first evening and felt – literally, literal use of the word literally – like a ghost. I’m not prone to strong, overt emotional reactions so this stayed in my mind. That’s a long story for a haiku however so I was stuck until my wife’s mother show us some old photographs over the holidays and I had the feeling again, not as strong but strong enough. And then, as creative types say … Bob’s your uncle.
