I love Dr. Seuss’s ABC and read it to my kids all the time. But after several years, I realized I had to skip “Letter R”. It all seemed innocuous at first.
“Letter R” wasn’t my favorite rhyme but I kinda dug
Rosy Robin Ross’ jodhpurs and riding crop.
I wondered what Rosy found so interesting
about the red rhinoceros. He seemed like
a nice fellow, but nothing special.
Then one day it struck me. I took a real close look
at that nose of his and thought, “Uh oh.”
Ok, so looking at this and the spines on your blog pic I have decided you’re not mad about shopping.
Bingo!
Haha! I use to have this book memorized when I would read it to my daughter. Never noticed the giant, red schlong though!!! 😀
I don’t think Seuss did it on purpose, but it sure looks like he did.
Oh my goodness, this made me laugh so hard.
Seuss is often funny, but not often in this way. My favorite is “On Beyond Zebra”. It is free of subliminals as far as I can tell.
I think he did it on purpose. Geisel’s entire body of work strongly suggests this.
Haven’t seen anything else naughty in Seuss, myself. Would be happy to have my way pointed though!
well, i have another one for you. on Dr. Seuss’s The Foot Book, take a look at where Low Foot and High Foot are standing. this is a harry one!
