Yes. I did ask myself “You gonna need to pay the Thomas estate a fee for this poem Pete?” though on the other hand, the haiku did come to me in Christ Church, in the city, early evening, and surrounded by people (modern organ concert, very nice). It was those large clear glass windows that set the little golden wheels turning.
There is a resonance of RS Thomas, without taking anything away from your own creative response.
I might say that in Thomas the poet is present and God is absent while here it is the reverse – people are absent and God or not God but some immanence composed of beauty, wonder, and gratitude is present.
Have I told you, Peter, that I really enjoyed this haiku. Made me think of Llanfaelrhys church.
Am catching up on email while potatoes and leeks simmer.
